Here You'll Find Answers to our Most Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: What are your office opening hours?
A1: Our opening hours are from 9am -5pm weekdays, of course at any other time you are very welcome to leave a voice mail, email or even a text, if your calling and leaving a message then please speak slowly and clearly and give some clear detail about your project, we would then be very happy to reply to you at our earliest convenience
Q2: After we have accepted your quotations how soon can you start work?
A2: It depends on your project, but usually on average we have about a 3 week lead time and sometimes more, but do feel free to enquire if your project is more urgent as we may well be able to accommodate you
Q3: Can you provide architectural services to provide plans for our project?
A3: Yes we are able to provide architectural services, we use a carefully selected local company who we have developed a very good working relationship with, they offer an exceptional service at competitive rates and we are here to help you through this entire process
Q4: Can you deal with planning applications?
A4: Yes if you prefer we can check to see if you require a planning application for your project and submit your plans on your behalf
Q5: Do you deal with applications to local authority building control?
A5: Yes we can act as an agent for you and make your application
Q6: Do you accept credit card payments?
A6: This is a question that we have been asked before and we feel that at this time even living in a world where card payment is the most commonly used method of payment, there is surprisingly not enough call for this service; so at this time we do not accept card payments either over the phone or in person, however you may well be able to make your payment online through your bank and using your credit card if you were to add R.T. Property Improvements as a payee
Q7: Do you require a deposit?
A7: It really depends on the project; usually we take a deposit for materials, we are also happy to arrange an interim payment system and we try to work with our clients to find a payment solution that is agreeable for all parties concerned
Q8: Do you deal with our waste responsibly?
A8: Yes we care a great deal about the environment and the effect that our industry has upon it. All waste is handled in line with duty of care regulations and where possible commercially recycled, we are upper tier licenced waste carriers and are registered with the environment agency, please contact us if you require our carriers registration number
Q9: Are you comprehensively insured?
A9: Yes we are! This is something that we take very seriously, we are insured to carry out domestic and commercial construction work, we have a Master Tradesman plus policy with a limit of indemnity of 5 million pounds, policy details are provided upon your request, furthermore and as a rule of thumb all Checkatrade, Guild of Master Craftsmen members and all Which? Trusted Traders have to be fully insured to be members of these organizations and this is checked annually
Q10: Will we be charged any extra’s at the end of the job?
A10: This is a very good question, we pride ourselves in trying to avoid this situation however construction work is a complex technology, who knows what’s under the floor, or inside that stud wall? Did the previous builder or an “ambitious DIYer” do the job right before hand? Or are there some hidden gremlins waiting to jump out at you! The short answer is that unfortunately it is possible; there is no way even with the best of intentions that any experienced builder can say for certain that there won’t be any extra’s at the end. If something were to unfortunately crop up then we would bring it to your attention as soon as possible, we would also keep you informed of what any additional costs might be, this would be done as soon as it is reasonably possible for us to do so.
Q11: How do I know that your quote will be fair and reasonable?
A11: At R.T. Property Improvements we value your custom a great deal, we will always endeavour to provide for you our most reasonable quotation for the work involved and that this of course would allow for our customary high quality of workmanship and that any materials supplied are of good quality and fit for purpose.
